Romans from L-R (bottom to top): Ax, Bd with Numidian ally behind, supported Cv and more Ax. GIs L-R (top to bottom): Lh, Cv, Bw, El with Pk left and right, PkF with Ax left and right and Kushan ally behind.

The Greeks had an ideally placed small rough hill for their Pk and Ax to occupy, but then Bob doubled on the deployment dice, meaning he could start closer and grab it. Without a secure hill, the Kushan ally didn't like the situation and became unreliable. And that, essentially was it.

15-10 to Bob. Although Roman Bd will always chop up any Greek foot, it would have been a much more hotly contested battle had the deployment dice not pulled a fast one - Cv battle (with Lh and Bw helping the Greeks and Ax helping the Romans) in the middle and bigger infantry fight the other side of that hill. Uphill, the PkF command (the smallest Greek command) might have lasted longer.

The treacherous d6s strike again! Was the ally paid to join in or attacked?

Bob

Pips were spent to activate it. Otherwise, it might have changed sides

I think I spent 3 PIPs 3 times in the first 4 bounds before getting that 5. I did skip one bound to move the elephant and Sod's Law dictates the ally would then have rolled a 5 or 6, but it got another 1.
